Thanks to a great deal of planning and hard work, we at Northern Michigan Bank & Trust moved into a lot previously occupied by Tasson's Tire shop. We opened our doors on January 24th of this year. Moving to the west end of Marquette County was something both the bank and local residents were very much looking forward to.
To compliment our state of the art facility, we wanted to bring in the history of our area to the bank for our customers to view and appreciate. Important industries and landmarks were highlighted by talented local artists Jeff Massie and Katherine Savin through photography and custom paintings. Customers now enjoy art featuring Suicide Hill, Al Quaal, logging, mining, Wawonowin golf course, and local wildlife.
The branch itself has been the talk of the town with local residents stopping in to see our building, art work, and services offered. We are very much looking forward to working with both new and existing clients in what will be an exciting new location for both the bank and the local community.
On Grand Opening day, February 24th, 2012, festivities started at 7:00 a.m. with a business before hour's breakfast. Many local merchants and businesses attended to welcome the bank to the community
From 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. lunch was served to the public, providing them a chance to meet with our bank staff. Several new relationships were formed during this luncheon. Customers were encouraged to enter a drawing for an Ipad2 and a 32" television.
After the luncheon, a ribbon cutting ceremony took place with the Negaunee-Ishpeming chambers of Commerce. At 4:00 p.m. the winners of the Ipad2 and television were announced. The lucky winners were Sarah West and John Adams.
All in all it was a successful grand opening and the Ishpeming staff is looking forward to a bright future!
